Citrus trees and crops currently face serious threats from infectious diseases. Currently citrus greening disease of huanglongbing (HLB) is the greatest threat. The Citrus Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (“Foundation”) utilizes the Citrus Advanced Technology Program to search internationally for solutions to control HLB and other citrus diseases through sponsored research.

Supported Areas of Research

The Citrus Research and Development Foundation requests research proposals to develop solutions to control Citrus Greening (Huanglongbing), Canker and other emerging diseases threatening Florida citrus production. New research initiatives should complement the existing portfolio of research projects currently summarized in the progress reports posted at www.citrusrdf.org .

Citrus Advanced Technology Program Criteria

First, a single-page preproposal summary is submitted to the Foundation for consideration for funding. Preproposals are reviewed by the Foundation and Scientific Advisory Board and evaluated for their merit and likelihood of practical solutions relative to the citrus crises we are facing.

The duration proposed for your project should not exceed three years.

Funding

Individual award amounts will be based on the recommendations made to the Foundation as a result of the evaluation process.

Awardees are encouraged to establish regular contact with the Foundation staff and industry partners to ensure that results and disease interventions identified in their research receive early attention for further development and commercial application.
