Congratulations on being among those selected by CRDF to submit a full proposal for consideration for project funding! Download the CATP11 Invited List. We appreciate your interest in this arena of research, and look forward to receiving and reviewing your complete research proposal. Please note that the DUE DATE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSION IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2011.  Proposals received after that date will not be considered for funding in this round.

Some changes have been made to the process of developing and submitting full proposals for the 2011 cycle and beyond. We believe that these changes will be easily implemented, and will assist you as researchers, as well as assist your institution and CRDF in administering successful contracts. The most significant change is that CRDF is requesting full budget detail for each year of your proposed project that will enable us to approve budgets for a multi-year research proposal and contract it accordingly. This relatively simple change will allow us to better manage year-to-year contracting and budget flow, removing the need in most cases for revised budgets or revised project scope between years. This will mean that projects will continue from year to year automatically if progress and contract payments are current, eliminating the need for no-cost extensions and contract revisions each year unless there is a specific reason to revisit the project on a case-by-case basis. As is the case with current contracts, CRDF reserves the right to early termination of contracts as may be necessary. This language will not change in the new contracts.

In order to accomplish this change, we are requiring that you submit budget forms that detail your proposed expenses for each year of the project, as well as a composite budget for the entire project period. Form CB-11 is comprised of the cover page and budget forms which have been modified to accommodate this and should facilitate your budget development. For projects that have a subcontract, a similar budget form must be completed, one for each subcontractor detailing each year and a composite for the entire subcontract. The other change that will facilitate annual project transitions to a multi-year flow is the request for you to include the spreadsheet showing current and pending funding and personnel allocation with your full proposal packet. With these changes, CRDF will have all of the documentation necessary to proceed to contracting once proposals have been reviewed and approved for funding.

The CRDF webpage has been updated, and in particular, we have reorganized the full proposal application information to facilitate your proposal development. From the Funding link on the Home Page, you can navigate to “Developing a Full Proposal” and have access to a forms menu and instructions for development and submission of the proposal. Feel free to contact us if you have questions. The CRDF webpage has a Support and Forum|FAQs Portal on which you can share questions and we will post solutions.

Best of luck with your efforts to develop a strong proposal.
